New construction occurred only after an exhaustive design exploration and preliminary bidding of a whole house remodel. read more

When it became clear the original house was not worth saving, the design process began anew. Yet, many ideas had already been generated from the first discussions of this family’s needs and dreams.

The new 2540SF house feels so much larger than its modest footprint due to the open volumes and high ceilings. The first floor has a double-height dining room space and a study that can expand and open to the living room. Every square foot is utilized to its maximum potential, including a custom sewing alcove under the stair. The clients preferred to separate the Master Bedroom downstairs from the kid’s rooms upstairs, so the whole second floor is the kid’s zone, with private bedrooms and a large shared space open to below. Bamboo floors and rich cherry wood cabinets are materials used throughout the home.
