This 1400 sf home in the flats of Beverly Hills was in need of a whole house remodel, and the family simply needed more space. A well-planned and luxurious master suite included dramatic pitched ceilings with exposed beams, a spacious walk-in shower with a double body spray system, and his and her office alcoves tucked under the eaves. This 690 square foot second story addition was deliberately limited to less than half the existing square footage in order to avoid city zoning codes that would have added significant cost to the project. Automatic shades for solar, custom furniture to match the cabinetry, and deep green, handmade bathroom tiles were all part of the client’s wish list. The reworking of the first floor spaces included the remodeling of a well-planned galley kitchen, and capturing more storage space.

The architectural vocabulary of the home was established by the existing house with its deep roofs and dramatic beams and then updated to a modern version. The clients made a last-minute decision to invest in rich, slate shingles for the prominently sloping roof, which resulted in a home with fantastic curb appeal.
