Deconstruction, donation and reuse of the existing structures, all electric new construction, solar panels, greywater recycling, rainwater capture and LEED Certified – resulting in a minimal carbon footprint for this home. The site is one of the deepest at the Mar Vista Oval where a large, planned area from the 1920’s with wide, curved streets and mature trees feels insulated between large boulevards on all four sides. At this deep 230′ deep site, a driving design concept is making use of the full depth by bringing living spaces deep into the site, and capturing multiple, discreet garden spaces to serve them. Two building and four gardens: the entry courtyard garden, the main house, the side garden, the shared expansive garden, the secondary structure with a second floor ADU, and the ADU entry garden.
